Nature research 2026

Paper and embroidery: a new material research.

I’ve recently been developing a new series of nature sets intended for display windows, set design, and installation contexts. These pieces are constructed from paper, cardboard, and MDF, assembled using thread-based joinery.

This research has led me to explore embroidery—something I’ve been studying throughout the first half of the year—as a way to introduce detail, texture, and surface complexity to each piece.

Thread is not only applied as an embroidered surface language, decorating stems, branches, and petals, but also functions structurally as a connector. It allows the elements to be assembled without glue, echoing principles found in leatherwork construction systems.
