Etel Adnan was a Lebanese-American , essayist, and visual artist. In 2003, Adnan was named arguably the most celebrated and accomplished Arab American autor.

Besides her literary output, Adnan made visual works in a variety of media, such as oil paintings, films and tapestries, which have been exhibited at galleries across the world.

She finally received international recognition when she was in her 80's, having exhibitions and being part of different art collections. Etel Adnan's vision of the world was very intimate, and so were her paintings which portrayed the way she perceived nature and colour in a minimal but poetic way.
