A new commission by Platoon for Gustavo Dudamel. This is a cover illustration for his new music album "Pajaros Maagicos" his critically acclaimed interpretation of Igor Stravinsky’s ballet suite, "The Firebird" and Uirapuru, the symphonic poem or ballet by the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Since both pieces yuxtapose in Gustavo's music, the idea of the cover was to create an illustration where both stories met. The fire bird on one side, very magnificent and dominant, and the Uirapuru which is a magical Brazilian bird, as well as elements of both stories. One one side the Russian palace and elements from the tale, and on the other, the amazonian forest. The result is an elegant conversation between both stories, with magic, and the power of music represented in colour and line movement.
