Oceanografic is a conservation agency in Valencia, Spain that focuses on protecting nature. Trough Mision Azul, they hope create awareness about the vital rol of nature and the different natural ecosystem.
For this occasion, I was commissioned to create a blue billed duck, which at the moment is vulnerable due to the disappearance of its ecosystem. Farming is one of the principal activities that is harming its vital environment, due to the the loss of land and lack of food sources.
I made this bird in paper, and also added a little scene that represents more or less an ideal ecosystem. By using art as a medium to restore nature, my aim is to teach trough my work about the many different species that need our help. I hope that art can be used as a vessel for education. We live in such a beautiful planet that needs us to look after it with more care and consideration.
