The concept of this commission was to create 2 large artworks of 100 cm x 100 com for a very important client. The artworks were commissioned to go on one of their new line of cruise ship thats sails the Caribbean, and the request was to create 2 scenes from the movie: An outside view and inside view with the characters in it. I started by studying closely technical drawings for the ship in order to create a layered piece that will resemble the boldness and weight but made out of paper.
For the colours, I decided to block the pattern in hues of greys/blues and green/greys, and develop a good amount of detail of each element, that at the end were integrated easily. The initial reference for these pieces was a 3d pop up book of the movie, and the idea to pop elements out of the piece was important, to create a sense of depth and make the piece more interactive than just creating flat layers in paper.
